Agriculture
Pennsylvania leads the nation in the number of farms and acres permanently preserved for agricultural production.
PennDOT is required to consider the adverse effects of transportation projects on agricultural resources and to consider alternatives actions that minimize impacts.
PennDOT has developed an agricultural resource evaluation process for conformance with the multiple federal and state laws and policies which serve to protect agricultural resources from condemnation or conversion to nonagricultural uses as a result of federal or state-funded programs.
