The Mansfield PennDOT Project involves roadway resurfacing (milling and overlay) of Route 6 (Wellsboro Street) and Route 2005 (Business 15/Main Street) in Mansfield Borough and Richmond Township, Tioga County. The project will maintain the underlying pavement structure and address surface deterioration of the existing roadway surface. The full depth reconstruction of the roadways and upgrades to the signalized intersection of Route 6 and Route 2005 has been postponed for a future planned project.
Additional Project Information
Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for this $7.2 million construction project of Route 6 and Main Street. Work on this project includes milling and resurfacing 0.5 miles of Route 6 between the Tioga River and Swan Street in Mansfield Borough and 3.8 miles of Main Street between Decker Street in Richmond Township and East Main Street in Mansfield Borough. Additional work includes drainage improvements, utility relocations, construction of ADA ramps, and rehabilitation and deck preservation of the bridge that carries Route 6 over the Tioga River in Mansfield Borough.
UPDATE: 4/23/2025
The week of Monday, April 28, 2025, the contractor will begin milling and resurfacing on North Main Street (Route 2005) between East Elmira Street (Route 1002) and the Route 15 interchange. Motorists can expect alternating lane restrictions with flagging where work is being performed. Work will be performed during daylight hours.
Motorists should be alert, slow down, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.
2025 Work Preview
Work in 2025 will include completion of remaining pavement repairs along with mill and overlay of existing roadway, epoxy overlay of bridge over the Tioga River. Traffic control will be lane restrictions controlled with flagging. Work in the Central Business District will be completed during the overnight hours
2024 Work Summary
Work in 2024 included drainage improvements, utility relocations, construction of ADA ramps, and bridge rehabilitation and preservation work on the bridge that carries Route 6 over the Tioga River in Mansfield Borough.
