Environmental

The project site is located in a rural area of Lower Windsor Township. The bridge is located along State Route 0624 and crosses Cabin Creek with residential and recreational land uses in the immediate vicinity of the bridge. There are existing pedestrian facilities in the project area, which includes the Mason Dixon Trail. Other environmental efforts for the project included aquatic resource investigations, threatened and endangered species coordination, and wetland investigations.

Utilities

There are aerial utilities within the project limits. Impacts to utilities within the project limits are anticipated to allow for construction of the project.

Right-of-Way

Right-of-Way and temporary construction easement acquisitions are anticipated for the adjacent parcels to allow for construction of the proposed project.

Maintenance and Protection of Traffic

Traffic is anticipated to be detoured during construction. The proposed detour will utilize Township Road 736 (Calvary Church Road) and State Route 124 (Abels Road). The duration of the detour is expected to be approximately 3.5 months.

The project area serves as part of the Mason Dixon Trail. The Mason Dixon Trail Association has coordinated their own temporary trail relocation using adjacent properties and will install signage notifying trail users.  Please refer to the project's Detour Plan graphic.

Schedule and Cost

Overall construction is anticipated to last approximately 3.5 months in early winter of 2027 at an estimated construction cost of $955,000.00.
